Konosuba S2 Ep. 8

Isn't it sad, Yun Yun?

This was, without a doubt, the funniest episode of Konosuba ever.

Last time, we left the party fighting some emus.

To the surprise of absolutely no one, the party wins, proving themselves superior to the entire continent of Australia. Kazuma comes up with a plan, Megumin explodes things, and Darkness makes things weird.

The day is saved which would not be a bad thing except for the part where they are responsible for everyone being in danger in the first place, something that has Kazuma feeling pretty damn guilty as everyone else treats his party as epic heroes instead of epic screw-ups.

However, things don't stop there. That very night a group of zombies attack.

Which is very rare.

And obviously has nothing to do with Aqua being undead bait.

No way.

On the plus side, the situation is dealt with pretty quickly since Aqua is super-effective against the undead. It's also nice to see Kazuma doesn't want to take any reward for the job they did. For all that people call him Scumzuma and Trashzuma, the guy does have a moral compass.

After many trials, the group arrives to the city of Hot Springs, Alcanretia.

It also happens to be the home of the Axis Cult.

As in the cult that worships Aqua.

Yeah.

With Wiz recovering from being nearly purified by Aqua (Am I the only one who was reminded of how much I miss Beldia there?), Aqua enjoying the attention she is receiving, and Megumin babysitting Aqua, Kazuma and Darkness are left on their own to explore the city.

Which leads to something absolutely beautiful.

In less than half an episode, Konosuba goes through just about every overused scam there is out there. 

The fake former school buddy. The grateful stranger telling you how cool the Axis cult is. The poor woman you can only save from the obviously evil Eris Worshiper by joining the Axis Cult, and of course, the icing on the cake, the cute loli trying to trick them.

Kazuma is soon exhausted by these people. Darkness is turned on by the sheer spite they treat her with.

It's another day in Konosuba.
