Nisekoi: Fake Love, True Problems

Nisekoi is not the first romantic comedy to run in Shounen Jump.

However, it does stick out due to how self-aware it is. It shamelessly grabs a bunch of romantic harem comedy tropes and plays them completely straight.

Sadly, that's also the manga's biggest weakness.

So, I did a Thing

Remember how a month ago I told you guys I was in the process of getting a book published?

I did it.

It's up for pre-order on Amazon and Smashwords now.

The Sleeping Town is a 55K Contemporary Fantasy story written by yours truly.

Not going to lie, I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now.

Note, this is not me pressuring you guys into buying it. Though if you're curious you can download a free 15% sample from Smashwords. Amazon has a Look Inside feature, but it's not enabled for my book just yet.

Anyway, this is just me bragging :)

For those curious about the blog, the next post is going to be a Nisekoi post. I want to have it up by Friday at latest. After that, there'll be a Magi post once the current chapters are translated, and I really want to do a Boruto one, but it'd contain so many spoilers it wouldn't be fun.

Until next post!

Shokugeki no Souma: Pressure for Success and Fear of Failure

Out of all the new manga which have come out of Shounen Jump in recent years, Shokugeki no Souma is my current favorite. I am usually more of a battle manga guy, but this cooking manga has become the one I most look forward to every week.

There are plenty of reasons for it.

Souma is a damn good protagonist. The rest of the cast is colorful enough and the author manages to do just enough to keep them relevant. The arcs are all interesting in their own ways. Then, of course, there is the theme driving the overall narrative.

Because if any Jump manga does justice to the Elite vs Commoner dynamic, it's this one.

Some Stats

Dragon Ball Super will reach Ep. 5 soon (How quickly time flies), so the next post should be up by Sunday.

In the meantime, here are some blog stats. I have always wanted to make one of these posts.

Special Announcement! Sub-class Unlocked!

Actually not a Dumbpire Post
I have a bit of a confession to make.

As you may or may not know, I like writing. I really do. Some of you might have even checked out the link to my Fanfiction.Net account on the side. If you haven't and happen to like Valvrave, then do check out my ongoing fic there.

Anyway, somewhere around the time one of my fanfics went over 50,000 words, I realized there was nothing stopping me from actually writing an original story.

During the past half a year (and then some), I have been busy writing and editing a novel length, urban fantasy story.

I succeeded.

55K words of original writing by yours truly.

After some deliberation and encouragement from others, I have decided to self-publish it via Smashwords and Amazon.

Which brings me to the point of this post. I have decided to record my experience with the Self-Publishing Process from beginning to end on this Blog:

Honestly, I am a noob at all of this; so it's all pretty damn new and interesting to me. If you have ever been slightly curious about how you can publish the stuff you write, check it out. Maybe my experiences can shed more light into it.

Note, this doesn't mean I'm going to stop this blog or anything like that. If anything, I'm trying to post more often nowadays.
