Once again, Houshin Engi tells a good story in the worst way.

Episode 3 of Houshin Engi is probably the best of the lot. It's not high praise, but it is what it is. It still rushed things. It still introduced parts from later in the story entirely too early, but it didn't mangle anything too badly.

At least, that's how I saw it. Talking with some anime-only people (the few that still exist) led me to understand just how lost some people may have felt about certain things.

If you've been watching Houshin Engi so far, you have heard these terms thrown at you with little explanation as to what they mean.

Since the anime has barely explained its terminology by the third episode, I might as well take a stab at it for the few anime-only watchers.

Houshin Engi is one of my favorite manga so I was very happy to hear it was going to get a new anime. However, Houshin Engi is one of my favorite manga so I was very worried when I learned it was only going to be 23 episodes long.

As it turns out, my worries were not unfounded. The first episode skipped a lot of stuff. How much was skipped?
